Cat Island, Mississippi is a barrier island located about 8 miles due south of Gulfport, MS… Just recently, the Island was added to the Gulf Islands National Seashore….via a partial purchase by the US Dept. of Interior. The remaining portions are held by private citizens. The island is by far the most unique and intriguing of all the islands within the “Gulf Islands National Seashore.”
